Maytag Repair in Tampa, From Older Classics to Current Models
A Maytag that quits usually has one worn part, not a worn-out machine. Tampa ProFix identifies whether yours is an older in-house Maytag design or a current Whirlpool-based model, tests the suspect component and gives you the price before any repair begins.

Houses, Apartments & Condos Across the Tampa Bay Area
Maytag is a Whirlpool-owned brand, founded in 1893 in Newton, Iowa, that first became known for long-lasting washing machines. Current Maytag laundry, refrigeration and cooking products run on Whirlpool engineering, while older machines in service may still be the company's own pre-2006 designs. Our technicians read the model and serial tag first to learn whether a Maytag is a current Whirlpool-based build or an older in-house design, since that decides the parts. We then test the lid lock, drive, heating or ignition component behind the symptom before quoting.

Two Kinds of Maytag Share One Badge
Founded in 1893 in Newton, Iowa, Maytag spent most of the twentieth century designing its own washers, then dryers and kitchen products. Whirlpool bought the company in 2006. Over the next several years the in-house Maytag engineering was retired, and the name moved onto Whirlpool platforms with Maytag styling and heavy-duty features layered on top.
For a repair visit, that split is the first thing to settle. A Maytag built in the last decade or so takes many of the same pumps, switches and control parts as a comparable Whirlpool. An older machine, including the Neptune front-loaders, uses its own parts, and some of those have become scarce. The model and serial tag answers the question in a minute.
Top-Load Washers: Lid Locks, Belts and Couplings
Current Maytag top-loaders lock the lid before agitation or spin, and the lock assembly is a frequent failure. When it cannot report a locked lid, the washer fills and then sits, or it flashes a lid code and refuses to spin. We test the lock, its wiring and the board input before deciding which piece is at fault.
Drive problems are the other big group. A worn belt or a cracked drive coupling lets the motor run while the basket barely moves, often with a burning-rubber smell or a grinding noise. These are wear parts, and replacing them restores a heavy-duty machine without touching the transmission.
Garage Laundry, Long Vents and Florida Humidity
Many Tampa homes keep the washer and dryer in the garage, where summer air is hot, damp and dusty. A Maytag dryer pulling that air in, then pushing moist exhaust through a long or crushed vent, runs hot. Restricted airflow is a common reason thermal fuses open and heating elements burn out, and it also wears the idler pulley and drum rollers faster.
Humidity slows drying on its own, so a cycle that once took an hour can stretch well past that before any part has failed. We check the vent and lint path before condemning the heater. On the washer side, garage dust and lint settle on controls and motors, and a quick cleaning during service helps.
Maytag in the Kitchen
Maytag dishwashers use the Whirlpool-style filter that the owner is meant to remove and rinse. When it is ignored, food solids back up, the pump strains and the tub holds water. Cleaning the filter fixes some calls outright, and when it does not, we test the drain pump and check the hose for kinks.
Maytag refrigerators most often come to us with an ice maker that stops filling or a section that warms because the defrost system quit. On gas ranges, including models with the high-output Power Burner, the oven bake igniter weakens until it glows without opening the gas valve. Door switches are the weak spot on Maytag over-the-range microwaves.
When a Maytag Repair Pays Off
Belts, pulleys, lid locks, igniters, pumps and door switches cost far less than a new appliance, and on a sound machine they are almost always worth doing. Current Maytag parts move through the large Whirlpool supply network, so ordering is rarely a long wait.
The decision gets closer when an older washer needs a transmission, a refrigerator has a sealed-system leak or a pre-2006 design needs a part nobody stocks. We lay out the cost of the repair against the remaining life of the machine and tell you plainly if we would not spend the money.
