Houses, Apartments & Condos Across the Tampa Bay Area
KitchenAid started life as a stand mixer and has belonged to Whirlpool since 1986, serving as that company's upscale kitchen label. Its lineup of dishwashers, refrigerators, cooktops, wall ovens and pro-look ranges is mostly built on Whirlpool platforms with sturdier finishes. We order by the number stamped on the failed component, because so much KitchenAid hardware is shared with Whirlpool, Maytag and Jenn-Air. Before naming a control board we test the sensor, switch or wiring feeding it, since those are the cheaper and more frequent causes.

A Whirlpool Platform Under a Premium Badge
The name began on a Hobart stand mixer, and Whirlpool bought the brand in 1986. Today the line spans built-in, French-door and side-by-side refrigerators, dishwashers, cooktops, wall ovens, ranges in slide-in and commercial-style formats, microwaves and undercounter wine units. It is a common pick in kitchen remodels from South Tampa to Westchase.
Inside, much of the hardware is shared with Whirlpool, Maytag and Jenn-Air. Pumps, valves, igniters, sensors and ice maker components frequently share a part number across those brands. KitchenAid adds stainless tubs, sturdier racks, stronger burners and more refined controls, which is where its premium price goes.
Dishwashers: Filters, Pumps and Controls
Most recent KitchenAid dishwashers use a removable filter beneath the lower spray arm in place of a hard food grinder. If that filter is never rinsed, spots, grit and cloudy glasses follow, and owners understandably suspect the pump. Cleaning the filter is the first test we ask about, because it fixes more complaints than any part.
When the problem is mechanical, the usual suspects are the drain pump, the wash motor and the electronic control or keypad. In homes where scale builds up, inlet screens and spray arm holes clog too, cutting water flow and wash quality. Many models offer a service test mode that runs each component in turn, and we confirm its results with a meter.
French-Door Ice and Built-In Refrigerators
French-door KitchenAid refrigerators commonly house the ice maker in the fresh-food door. If the compartment seal leaks or its fan slows, frost forms and the ice jams or stops altogether. The repair can be a seal, a fan, a heater or a defrost component, so we check all of them rather than swapping the ice maker by reflex.
Built-in models are a larger investment and are worth more repair effort. Condenser fans, defrost parts, controls and even sealed-system work can make financial sense on a built-in that is otherwise sound, since replacing it often means cabinetry changes as well.
Wall Ovens and Commercial-Style Ranges
KitchenAid wall ovens tend to fail at the control board or the oven temperature sensor. An oven that runs hot, will not reach temperature or throws an error during preheat usually points to one of those two, and the sensor is the cheaper part to rule out first.
The 30, 36 and 48-inch commercial-style gas models go through igniters and spark modules as they age. A burner that clicks without lighting, or lights slowly, often needs an igniter or a clean, dry electrode. Electric and induction cooktops sometimes need a new power board, especially after a lightning strike nearby.
Sourcing by Part Number, and When to Stop
Because the supply chain is shared, locating most KitchenAid parts is straightforward. Trim pieces, custom panels and some commercial-style range components are the exceptions and may need to be ordered. We let you know at the diagnosis whether the part is likely on the van or will need a second visit.
The brand's higher starting price tilts the math toward repair. A stainless-tub dishwasher usually deserves a new pump, motor or board. We will still say so plainly when a dishwasher has several worn parts at once, or when an older French-door unit needs a compressor, because at that point replacement is often the better use of money.
