About KitchenAid Stove Repair
Here, stove means the top surface of a KitchenAid range, the part you cook on daily. Gas versions light their sealed burners electronically by spark, and most include one high-output burner meant for searing plus a dedicated simmer burner. Electric versions put radiant elements under glass, run by knobs or electronic controls. The surface sits on either a slide-in or a commercial-style range.
The high-output burner tends to show wear first. It runs hottest and gets the heaviest use, so its cap discolors and its ignition slows before the others. Boil-overs are the common enemy across every burner: residue fouls igniter tips, clogs ports and nudges caps out of position, which leads to weak or uneven flames, nonstop clicking, or a burner that never catches.
If moisture reaches the spark module or a burner switch, it can fail or keep sparking after the flame is lit. Liquid that seeps under the surface can also cause intermittent faults that come and go. Glass tops have three weak points: radiant elements that burn out, switches or controls that fail, and the glass, which cracks from a hard knock or uneven heat. A cracked top should not be used.
Let the burners cool, then remove caps and bases and scrub them gently in warm, soapy water. Dry them completely before reseating them evenly. A straightened paperclip clears a clogged port; a toothpick can snap off inside it. Use flat-bottomed pans on glass and clean spills quickly. A gas smell means leaving the house and phoning the utility or 911 once outside.
We test the burner switches, wiring and spark module, check gas flow at each burner, measure element resistance on electric tops, and look for liquid damage below the surface. Burner and igniter work is inexpensive next to the cost of a new KitchenAid range. Replacing cracked glass, or a control on an older model, is a bigger decision, and we will lay out the options and the cost.

- Spark module or switch wet from spills, clicking after ignition
