About Fisher & Paykel Stove Repair
The Fisher & Paykel gas stoves sold here run from 30-inch ranges up to pro-style models 36 and 48 inches wide, with heavy cast-iron grates, big knobs and sometimes a griddle or a second oven. The company also owns DCS, the California pro-style brand it bought in 2004, and some of that engineering shows in the larger ranges. These are heavy, high-output appliances.
Size causes its own wear. The oven doors on pro-style models are heavy, and their hinges loosen until the door sits crooked and leaks heat along one edge. A wide oven cavity needs a strong igniter, so a weakening one gives slow, delayed ignition well before it fails outright, and the broil burner can quit independently of the bake burner. Cooling fans keep the front panel and knobs from getting hot.
Up top, the big open cooktop sends spills straight to the spark switches, and a wet switch keeps every igniter ticking. Griddle burners clog with grease, which shows up as uneven or failed lighting. If the front of the range feels unusually warm around the knobs, the cooling fan may have stopped. Some burners also have flame-safety parts, and those need testing rather than guesswork.
Scrape and clean the griddle after each use, lift burner caps to clear the ports, and let everything dry before lighting again. Check whether the oven door closes evenly along its full edge. If the range has been pulled out, make sure the anti-tip bracket is reengaged. Near the bay, salt air can corrode exposed metal on outdoor kitchen setups faster, so keep the steel clean and dry.
We test oven and broil igniters and valves, spark modules and switches, griddle burners and cooling fans, and adjust or replace door hinges. We work on the appliance only, not the house gas piping, and check flame quality when done. Parts for larger models can take time, so we confirm availability before quoting. Given what a new pro-style range costs, even bigger repairs usually make sense.
