About Blomberg Stove Repair
A Blomberg gas burner that lights, then goes out the moment you let go of the knob, is doing what its safety system was designed to do. On models with flame-safety protection, a small sensor beside each igniter has to detect the flame before the valve will stay open. If the sensor is dirty, knocked out of position or failing, the gas shuts off. Hold the knob in a few seconds longer, as the manual directs.
Owners often call these stoves, but they are 30-inch freestanding Blomberg gas ranges, with a convection oven under a top of sealed, spark-lit burners. Ignition is electronic, and the oven has its own ignition system and control. The styling is European, which means heavy cast-iron grates and snug caps, and those caps are part of why cleaning and reseating matter so much on this brand.
Clicking without a flame usually comes from clogged ports, a cap sitting slightly crooked, or a crusted igniter. Continuous clicking, even with the knobs off, points to a wet spark switch, often after a boil-over. With the stove off and cool, lift the grates and caps, clear the ports with a fine wire, gently clean the flame sensor, and let everything dry before you put it back together.
Fuel type is worth confirming. In a home on propane instead of natural gas, the range needs orifices sized for that fuel, and an unconverted range burns with sooty, lifting flames and a weak oven, which swapping parts won't cure. We check the setup when the symptoms suggest it. On the oven side, slow lighting or no lighting usually involves the igniter or the valve.
Testing covers the igniters, spark module, switches and flame-safety sensors on top, and ignition and the valve in the oven. We don't work on household gas lines, and anyone who smells gas should get out and call the utility or 911 once outside. Parts availability is confirmed before we quote. Burner, igniter and sensor repairs are usually worthwhile; an oven valve or control on an older range calls for a cost comparison.
Where Blomberg Stoves Tend to Fail
- Dirty or misaligned flame-safety sensor, burner dies on release
- Clogged ports or crooked caps under cast-iron grates
- Wet spark switch keeping the igniter clicking
- Range not converted for propane, sooty flames and weak oven
