About LG Stove Repair

When an LG owner says stove, they usually mean the top of the range, and that surface takes the daily abuse: boil-overs, scrubbing, heavy pots dragged across grates or glass. On gas models LG uses sealed burners under continuous cast-iron grates, typically including an UltraHeat burner for searing and a small simmer burner. Electric models use a radiant glass top with a dual or triple element.

Most gas stove calls involve ignition. Grease and spills reach the burner base and coat the spark electrode, so the spark wanders and the burner clicks for a while before it catches. Water that gets into a spark switch can keep every igniter clicking after the knob is off. A yellow, lazy or uneven flame usually means a cap sitting crooked, ports clogged with residue or a dirty burner head.

Electric LG stoves have their own pattern. An element can stop heating, or a dual element may heat only on the inner ring because the outer ring or its switch has failed. A warming zone quits when its element or control gives out. An element that stays on high and will not turn down is a safety issue: shut off the breaker and leave it off until it is checked, since a switch or relay is stuck.

With the stove cool, lift off the caps and heads, brush the electrodes, clear ports with a pin and let everything dry fully before you reassemble. Push each knob straight onto its stem; a cracked knob can stop the switch from reaching full travel. Never cook on a cracked glass top. If you smell gas, leave the house and call the gas company from outside.

On the visit we test the spark module, switches and gas flow on each burner, check cap and head alignment, and measure element resistance and switch output on electric tops. If one burner is bad we check the rest at the same time. These are inexpensive fixes; a cracked glass top on an older LG range is the one repair that can tip the decision toward replacement.

Where LG Stoves Tend to Fail

  • Grease-fouled spark electrode, burner clicking before it lights
  • Wet spark switch keeping igniters clicking with knobs off
  • Dual radiant element heating only on its inner ring
  • Element stuck on high from a failed switch or welded relay
