Appliance Repair for St. Petersburg Homes and Condos
St. Petersburg packs a century of housing into one peninsula: Kenwood bungalows, Mediterranean Revival houses on Snell Isle, postwar block houses on the west side and condo towers along Beach Drive. Each kind of home gives its appliances a different set of problems.

Older Houses, Tight Kitchens
Historic Kenwood was built mostly between 1912 and 1945. Kitchens in houses of that age were laid out for smaller appliances. A modern French-door refrigerator jammed into an old alcove often has no room to breathe, so the condenser runs hot and the compressor rarely rests.
Older wiring matters too. A range, dryer or microwave that trips a breaker or browns out the lights may be fine on its own and simply sharing a tired circuit. We test the appliance first, tell you what we measured, and say plainly when the next call belongs to an electrician.
Towers and Stacked Laundry
Downtown and around Bayside and Carillon in 33716, many owners live in condos with a stacked washer and dryer in a closet. Those closets trap heat, and the dryer vent usually runs a long way to an exterior wall or a shared shaft. Slow drying there is almost always airflow, not the heating element.
Before a visit, check your building's rules for contractors, elevator use and parking. Knowing where your unit's water shutoff is helps us too, because a leaking inlet hose in a tower can reach the neighbors below quickly.
Bay Water and Salt Air
In 2024 Helene pushed Tampa Bay into Shore Acres, Snell Isle, Coquina Key and Venetian Isles, and Boca Ciega Bay entered homes in Gulfport. Any appliance that sat in that water should stay unplugged until it is inspected. Wet control boards, motors and gas valves are a safety problem, and many of those units are better replaced than repaired.
Even without flooding, salt air near the water corrodes exposed metal. Vent hoods and garage freezers on waterfront lots rust faster than the same units inland.
The Neighborhoods Inside Our ZIP List
Not every ZIP here is the City of St. Petersburg. 33707 is mostly Gulfport and South Pasadena, with Bear Creek and part of west St. Pete. 33709 and 33714 are largely Lealman and Kenneth City.
After Milton, a boil-water notice covered St. Pete, Gulfport, South Pasadena and Lealman until October 14. When a notice like that lifts, discard the ice, run the dispenser to flush the line and replace the refrigerator's water filter.
