In-Home Appliance Repair in Pinellas County
Pinellas is a narrow peninsula packed with homes, with Tampa Bay on one side, the Gulf on the other and barrier islands off the west shore. We cover it in three service areas, and the salt air, flood history and patchwork of water utilities here shape what we look for on every call.

How We Divide the Peninsula
St. Petersburg is our southern area, with 13 ZIP codes. Besides the city itself it includes Gulfport and South Pasadena (33707) and Lealman and Kenneth City (33709 and 33714), plus the Gateway and Carillon district in 33716. Clearwater covers ten ZIP codes, from downtown and Countryside to Feather Sound near the airport, and it reaches the barrier island at Clearwater Beach and Island Estates (33767).
Our third area is Largo, Dunedin & Palm Harbor, with 11 ZIP codes. It runs from central Largo and Belleair Bluffs to Seminole and Bardmoor (33772, 33776 and 33777), and north to Ozona, Palm Harbor, East Lake (34685) and Oldsmar (34677). Despite the area's name, Dunedin's main ZIP code, 34698, is not on our list; only thin edges of the city fall inside 33763 and 34683. The area pages list every ZIP.
Bungalows, Block Homes, Condos and 55+ Parks
St. Petersburg has some of the oldest housing we work in. Kenwood is mostly bungalows built between the 1910s and the 1940s, the Old Northeast is a historic district, and Snell Isle opened in 1925 with Mediterranean Revival homes. Kitchens in those houses were often remodeled into tight original footprints, so a new range or a deeper refrigerator does not always fit where the old one sat. Neighborhoods such as Azalea and Childs Park filled in later with postwar block homes.
Condominiums are everywhere on this peninsula, from downtown towers to On Top of the World in Clearwater, where the first building went up in 1972. Many units share laundry rooms or rely on stacked machines in closets, and buildings set their own rules for access and water shutoffs. Largo and Palm Harbor also have a large stock of manufactured homes in 55+ parks, and on Clearwater Beach a good share of owners live here only part of the year.
Salt Air and Seasonal Homes
Almost nowhere in Pinellas is far from salt water. Salt air corrodes exterior dryer vent hoods, outdoor beverage centers and grill hardware, and it works its way into condenser coils on refrigerators kept in garages and on lanais. Rinsing outdoor units with fresh water now and then, and replacing a rusted vent flap before it sticks open, both extend their life.
Homes closed for the summer bring their own problems. A refrigerator left running in a shuttered condo can fail without anyone noticing, an ice maker line can drip for weeks, and a front-load washer left shut breeds mildew in the gasket. Turning off the water supply to the washer and ice maker before leaving, and propping the washer door, prevents most of what we find when owners come back.
Helene's Surge and Milton's Rain
In 2024 Helene drove record water levels into both Clearwater Beach and St. Petersburg. Shore Acres, Snell Isle, Coquina Key and Venetian Isles flooded, Boca Ciega Bay came into homes in Gulfport, and water stood about three feet deep in parts of Ozona and Oldsmar. Milton followed with gusts near 100 mph and extreme rain, over 18 inches in one day at Albert Whitted Airport. Alligator Creek in Clearwater and the McKay and Church creeks in Largo flooded homes and apartments well away from the shore.
If an appliance sat in floodwater, leave it unplugged. Salt water is especially hard on control boards, motors and wiring, and corrosion can keep spreading after things look dry. Many machines that went under are not safe to repair, and we will say so. Long Duke Energy outages after Milton are a reminder to empty and prop open a refrigerator that will be without power for days.
A Patchwork of Water Utilities
Water service changes from city to city here. St. Petersburg buys from Tampa Bay Water, a blend of groundwater, river water and desalinated seawater, and treats and softens it again before it reaches homes in St. Pete, South Pasadena and parts of Lealman; Gulfport buys from St. Pete. Pinellas County Utilities serves Largo, Seminole, Kenneth City, Belleair Bluffs and much of the unincorporated county. Clearwater, Dunedin and Oldsmar run their own systems built on local wells and reverse-osmosis treatment, and Clearwater tops up its supply with county water.
Because the source differs, so does the scale. Look for white film on dishes, crusty dishwasher spray arms and slow ice makers, and clean washer inlet screens and replace refrigerator filters on schedule. Duke Energy Florida supplies power to most of the county, while Oldsmar is on Tampa Electric.
Visits, Parts and Honest Advice
Tell us the brand, the model if you have it and the symptom when you book online or by phone. On site, the technician runs the checks, explains what failed and gives you the price before any work starts. Common parts travel on the van, and model-specific parts are ordered and installed on a second visit. In condo buildings, let the front desk or association know we are coming so parking and elevator access are sorted out before we arrive.
We will not push a repair that does not pay off. A refrigerator with a failed sealed system, a stacked washer-dryer whose drum and controls are both worn, or anything that sat in salt water is often better replaced. When that is our view, we say it plainly and the choice is yours.
