Hoshizaki Ice Machine and Reach-In Repair in Tampa
A Hoshizaki that has slowed down is usually telling you about its water or its air supply, not announcing the end of its life. We watch a full cycle, check what the machine is drinking and breathing, and give you the diagnosis and price before any work.

Houses, Apartments & Condos Across the Tampa Bay Area
Hoshizaki is a Japanese maker of commercial ice and refrigeration equipment, established in the postwar years, with its US operation in Georgia. It is known for crescent-cube machines that freeze on stainless plates, along with cubelet and flake ice makers and stainless reach-ins. We follow a Hoshizaki through a complete freeze and harvest cycle, reading the board alarms alongside our own float, thermistor and pump checks. Water quality gets tested before any part is blamed, and we recommend filtration when scale is the root cause.

Built for Bars, Clinics and Seafood Counters
Hoshizaki is a Japanese company that got its start in the years after the Second World War, and it runs its US business from Peachtree City, Georgia. Ice is the core. Crescent-cube units fill bar bins, cubelet units make the soft chewable ice that clinics and fountain drinks favor, and flake units chill seafood and produce displays.
It also makes stainless reach-ins and prep tables. In Tampa we find Hoshizaki behind bars, on restaurant lines, in clinic break rooms and at markets. Owners generally bought it to last, and with clean water and a breathing condenser it usually does.
Reading the Freeze and Harvest Sequence
A crescent-cube Hoshizaki builds ice on vertical stainless plates while a pump sends water across them. A float switch watches the reservoir. A thermistor mounted on the evaporator decides when freezing is done. At harvest, hot gas warms the plates and incoming water runs behind them to free the crescents.
Each of those pieces can drift. A scaled float sticks, an off-value thermistor shortens or stretches the freeze, and a tired pump leaves dry patches. If a step runs past its allowed time, the board beeps or blinks a code. We note that code, then confirm it with our own readings.
Scale, Filtration and the Cubelet Auger
Every batch of ice leaves minerals behind. Tampa Bay water often carries enough hardness to crust the evaporator, distribution tube, float and pump within months, and wells in the outer county can add iron and sediment. Cubes turn cloudy, shrink or fuse together, harvest drags, and output falls.
Cubelet and flake machines suffer in a different place. Scale lines the freezing cylinder, the auger has to push harder, and its bearings and gear motor wear early. Often a descale, a sanitize and a properly sized filter on a change schedule help more than any new part, and we will tell you when that is the whole fix.
Back-of-House Heat in a Florida Summer
Ice ratings assume a particular room temperature and water temperature, and a Tampa summer beats both in many back rooms. A self-contained unit under a bar, or in a storeroom with little cooling, makes noticeably less ice from June through September. A dusty air-cooled condenser adds to the loss. Open space around the vents and a clean coil win much of it back.
Afternoon lightning and hurricane-season outages add problems of their own. When power comes back the machine may resume mid-cycle and take a while to settle, and a surge can kill the board. If output is still low a day later, or the alarm keeps sounding, book a check before the weekend rush.
Which Commercial Jobs We Take On
Tampa ProFix is residential-first and handles light commercial equipment where access makes sense. Self-contained ice makers, modular heads on reachable bins and reach-ins suit us. Rooftop remote-condenser systems or multi-machine banks often belong with a full-time refrigeration contractor, and we say so before you book.
Hoshizaki often backs its major components with lengthy manufacturer coverage, so look up the registration first. On a machine of almost any age, replacing a float, pump, thermistor, valve or board is a sound repair. A compressor or evaporator failure on an older unit calls for comparing repair with replacement, and you get both figures.
Looking for model numbers, recall notices or warranty registration? Those live on the manufacturer's own site: Hoshizaki official site. We are an independent repair company and are not affiliated with Hoshizaki.
