AGA Cooker and Range Cooker Repair
Before we look at any AGA fault, we need to know which kind of AGA you own. A traditional cast-iron cooker and a modern AGA range cooker share a badge and a silhouette, but they heat in entirely different ways. Once that is settled, we explain what failed and what the repair costs.

AGA is a British cooker maker whose original design, created in 1922 by Swedish physicist Gustaf Dalen, holds heat in a cast-iron core and radiates it into set-temperature ovens and hotplates. Owned by Middleby since 2015, it sells those classic cookers alongside modern gas, electric and induction range cookers. Our first step is confirming whether the cooker is a traditional heat-storage model or a conventional range cooker, since each fails and is tested differently. We check import part timing before you commit and tell you when a job belongs with an AGA specialist.

Identify the Cooker Before Anything Else
Swedish physicist Gustaf Dalen designed the original AGA in 1922, and production has stayed in Britain for nearly all of its life. The classic model is a heavy cast-iron block whose core soaks up heat and gives it off steadily to ovens at set temperatures, with two big hotplates under insulated lids. It stays lit around the clock.
AGA also sells range cookers that borrow the classic look but behave like any modern range: induction or gas burners on top, electric ovens that switch on when needed. Both kinds turn up in Tampa Bay custom kitchens, and a repair plan for one is useless on the other.
How a Stored-Heat Cooker Fails
On a traditional AGA, either a gas burner or a set of elements warms the core, a thermostat holds it steady and thick insulation keeps the heat in. Faults creep in. The ovens run a little cooler each day, the boiling plate is slow to recover, or the cooker never quite reaches its usual reading.
A quick preheat test tells you nothing on a cooker like this. We inspect the burner flame or the elements, compare the thermostat with the temperatures the model should hold, check lid seals and insulation, and ask how it has been used. Lids left up or a long day of roasting can drain the core without any part failing.
An Always-On Cooker in a Florida Kitchen
A cooker designed to warm a chilly British farmhouse adds a constant heat load to a kitchen already fighting a Tampa summer, and the air conditioner pays for it. Programmable AGAs can be set low or off for the hot months. Older traditional models can be shut down as well, but expect a very long wait to bring them back up.
Summer lightning and hurricane-season outages matter too. Many models depend on electricity for burner control or for the elements themselves, so a long outage lets the core cool and the climb back is slow. That is normal. If it has not recovered after a full day with power, or the controls misbehave after a storm, call us.
Range Cooker Faults Look Familiar
The modern AGA range cookers fail much like other high-end ranges. Gas tops get igniters that click without lighting or spark modules that quit. Electric ovens lose bake or grill elements, convection fans get noisy, and temperature sensors or controls drift. We work through them as we would any range: supply, component, then control.
Traditional cookers wear differently. Gas burners need periodic cleaning and tuning, elements eventually burn out, thermostats wander, and programmable models can develop electronic faults. Hotplate lid hinges and seals wear with use, and a lid that no longer sits flat bleeds heat all day.
Imported Parts and Specialist Work
AGA components arrive through a specialist importer, and waits are often longer than for domestic brands. We confirm stock and lead time before you approve the work, and if the cooker is still within manufacturer coverage we send you there first.
Certain traditional-model jobs, such as a complete burner overhaul on some gas cookers, belong with a dedicated AGA technician who has the specific tools and training. If yours is one, we say so rather than attempt it. Otherwise repair nearly always wins, because these cookers last for decades and are costly to replace.
Looking for model numbers, recall notices or warranty registration? Those live on the manufacturer's own site: AGA official site. We are an independent repair company and are not affiliated with AGA.
