Houses, Apartments & Condos Across the Tampa Bay Area
Atosa supplies stainless commercial refrigerators and freezers, ice machines and cooking gear at prices aimed at new restaurants, food trucks and bars. The equipment is built in China and supported through a U.S. distribution operation, and many current refrigeration models use R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant managed by digital controllers. We compare the controller reading against our own thermometer and test the probes, fans and gaskets before treating an Atosa cabinet as a refrigeration failure. On value-priced equipment we tell you early whether a part must be ordered and whether a major repair is worth it.

Equipment Bought to Open the Doors
Atosa's catalog covers stainless reach-ins in refrigerator and freezer versions, prep tables for sandwiches and pizza, undercounter units, ice machines and cooking equipment. It is manufactured in China and supported through an American distribution operation. The appeal is commercial construction priced for a first location, a food truck, a taproom or a church kitchen.
For an owner, that position shapes every repair decision. An Atosa cabinet is built for continuous duty, and its fans, gaskets and controllers are standard commercial parts at reasonable prices. A major component failure is a different conversation, because the comparison is a new value-priced unit, not an expensive premium one.
Read the Controller Before Blaming the Compressor
Atosa refrigeration is governed by a digital controller reading a probe in the cabinet, and freezers usually add an evaporator probe that tells the controller when to end defrost. If a probe drifts, gets pinched or loses contact, the controller makes bad decisions and a healthy system appears to be failing. Short cycling, missed defrosts and displays that disagree with the food are typical signs.
Our first step is comparing the controller reading with an independent thermometer and checking the probe resistance. Probes and controllers are inexpensive to replace, and confirming them early keeps you from paying for refrigeration work the unit did not need.
Fans, Gaskets and Coils on a Busy Line
The condenser fan motor runs every minute the compressor does, in the warmest corner of the cabinet. Once it drags or locks up, heat builds around the compressor until the thermal overload opens, so the unit cycles off and the box warms. Door gaskets take a beating on busy prep stations from constant opening, and a torn corner lets humid air frost the evaporator.
Behind all of that sits the condenser coil, which pulls in grease vapor, flour and fryer dust along with kitchen air. A coated coil raises head pressure and run time. Monthly coil cleaning is the cheapest maintenance an Atosa owner can do. On Atosa ice machines, scale on the evaporator plate and water sensors cuts production gradually before the machine stops.
Florida Heat, Humidity and Storm Season
A Tampa kitchen in August is a punishing environment for a self-contained condensing unit. The air reaching the coil is already hot, so a dirty coil or weak fan robs far more cooling than the same fault would in winter. Humidity also exposes bad gaskets quickly: a door that does not seal sweats, frosts the evaporator and drives up run times during the dinner rush.
Afternoon lightning and hurricane-season outages bring voltage swings that can damage controllers and fan motors. After any outage, confirm the unit restarts, reaches temperature and shows no display fault before loading it. Food trucks and outdoor bars face the extra challenge of salt air and blowing sand near the water, which corrode coils faster.
What We Handle, and When to Replace Instead
Tampa ProFix works mainly in homes and accepts light commercial jobs. Self-contained Atosa reach-ins, prep tables and undercounter ice machines in an accessible spot fit that scope well. Walk-in coolers and remote rooftop condensers are better handled by a dedicated refrigeration contractor, and we will say so up front.
Atosa models commonly use R290, a hydrocarbon refrigerant in a small, flammable charge, so sealed-system work needs proper equipment and procedure. On an aging budget unit, a compressor or leak repair is where we put the repair price next to a replacement and let you choose. Fans, gaskets, probes and controllers are almost always worth doing.
