Houses, Apartments & Condos Across the Tampa Bay Area
Founded in Milwaukee in 1962, U-Line builds nothing but undercounter refrigeration and has been part of the Middleby group since 2017. The lineup spans refrigerator drawers, built-in refrigerators, wine captains, beverage centers and clear-cube or nugget ice machines. We inspect the install first, including the toe-kick grille, the size of the opening and the drain setup, because poor airflow or drainage mimics a failing part. Parts come through specialist distribution, so we confirm availability and timing before you approve.

Undercounter Is the Whole Catalog
U-Line started in Milwaukee in 1962 and has stayed with one niche ever since: refrigeration that fits beneath a counter. Its catalog: refrigerator drawers, built-in refrigerators, wine captains, beverage centers and stand-alone ice machines. The Middleby group acquired the company in 2017.
Around Tampa we find U-Line units in kitchen islands, home bars, butler's pantries and, very often, lanai and outdoor kitchens in newer neighborhoods such as Westchase, Wesley Chapel and New Tampa.
Front Breathing and Tight Openings
A U-Line unit pulls in air and pushes heat out through the grille at the toe kick. The arrangement depends on an unobstructed grille and an opening built to the specified size. A cabinet that is too snug, a decorative panel over the grille or a thick mat in front makes hot air recirculate, so the compressor runs long and the cabinet warms.
Those symptoms are easy to mistake for a failing control or a refrigerant leak. We look at the installation before testing parts, because replacing a fan or board while the airflow fault remains just hastens the next breakdown.
Clear Cubes, Nuggets and Drains
U-Line makes two kinds of dedicated ice machine. A clear-cube unit freezes water as it flows across a chilled plate, then drops the slab onto a grid that cuts it into cubes. Nugget machines freeze water in a cylinder and an auger presses out soft, chewable ice. Both need clean water, steady airflow and a working drain.
Many leaks and shutdowns are drain problems: a gravity line without enough pitch, a kinked hose or a drain pump that has quit. Scale and biofilm on the evaporator and the parts that spread water over it cut production and change cube shape, and Tampa's mineral-heavy water makes the cleaning cycle in the manual more than a suggestion.
Lanai and Outdoor Kitchen Units
Outdoor-rated U-Line models are built for heat and moisture, but a Tampa lanai in August still tests them. Humidity, wind-blown debris, pollen and the occasional rain squall clog condensers and age fans and controls faster than an indoor unit would see. Homes near the bay add salt air, which corrodes exposed metal.
An indoor model placed outside is a different case. It was not designed for those swings, and it will run warm and fail early no matter how often it is repaired. We check the model's rating during a visit if you are unsure.
Parts and Whether to Repair
U-Line parts move through specialist distribution. Fans, pumps, valves and gaskets usually arrive in reasonable time, though control boards and parts unique to one model can take longer. We confirm timing before you approve a repair and tell you if it is safe to keep the unit on in the meantime.
Because U-Line units fit custom openings and are priced above freestanding coolers, most component repairs are worth doing. Sealed-system work on an older unit is a closer call, and we discuss its age, the cost and the likely life after repair.
Looking for model numbers, recall notices or warranty registration? Those live on the manufacturer's own site: U-Line official site. We are an independent repair company and are not affiliated with U-Line.
