Sub-Zero is a Wisconsin manufacturer, still in family hands, that builds nothing but cold storage. Its built-in and panel-ready refrigerators, freezers, undercounter drawers, wine units and ice makers mostly use a separate cooling system for each compartment, and Wolf cooking equipment comes from the same parent. We check the condenser and airflow before anything else, since a fouled coil explains many warm-cabinet complaints, and we test the fresh-food and freezer systems as independent machines. Parts are sourced through Sub-Zero's own distribution, so you hear the expected timing before we order.

Two Cooling Systems, Not One
Sub-Zero, a family-owned Wisconsin company, makes nothing but cold storage. Its defining choice is dual refrigeration: most combination models give the fresh-food side and the freezer their own compressor and evaporator, so dry freezer air and its odors never reach the produce.
That rewrites the diagnosis. On a typical single-evaporator fridge, a warm top with a cold freezer usually means air is not crossing between sections. On a Sub-Zero no air is shared, so a warm refrigerator side points to its own fan, defrost circuit, control or sealed system.
Start at the Condenser
The classic series puts its mechanical parts on top, behind a grille that swings open. Many integrated models pull air in at toe-kick level instead. Either way the coil needs open airflow. Fins matted with dust, lint or pet hair make the compressor run longer and hotter.
Sub-Zero asks owners to clean that coil routinely, and a fouled one explains many warm-cabinet complaints. Before we blame a fan, board or compressor, we inspect the coil, check how the system is running and clean it. Sometimes that is the entire fix.
Fans, Defrost, Ice and Heavy Doors
Past the condenser, the usual failures are fan motors on either side of the sealed system, freezer defrost heaters and their sensors, ice maker fill parts, and boards on electronic models. A fan typically gets noisy or lets temperatures creep before it stops outright.
The doors are heavy, so hinges and closing cams wear over the years. Once a door sags or will not pull itself shut, the gasket loses contact, and humid Tampa kitchen air becomes frost inside or beads of water on the frame. A closer or hinge adjustment is modest work that protects everything else.
Panels, Columns and Neighbors
Columns hidden behind wood panels, refrigerator and freezer drawers under the counter, wine storage and ice makers all mount into cabinetry, so protecting finished panels is part of the visit. Classic models with the visible grille are a little easier to reach.
Many of these kitchens also have Wolf ovens and ranges, a sister brand. If a Wolf range or wall oven needs attention too, booking both for one appointment avoids a second trip.
Why Big Repairs Often Still Make Sense
Sealed systems on Sub-Zero carry lengthy manufacturer coverage, so on a newer unit we suggest checking that first. Otherwise parts move through Sub-Zero's own distribution. Fans and valves are usually easy; some boards and sealed-system parts take longer, and you hear the timing before we order.
On an ordinary older fridge, a dead compressor ends the discussion. On a Sub-Zero it often does not, because a replacement means new panels and carpentry as well as the unit. We will still say so plainly if an old unit faces several costly failures at once.
Looking for model numbers, recall notices or warranty registration? Those live on the manufacturer's own site: Sub-Zero official site. We are an independent repair company and are not affiliated with Sub-Zero.
