Houses, Apartments & Condos Across the Tampa Bay Area
Avanti builds small-format appliances for spots a full-size unit will not fit: cube and apartment fridges, compact freezers, wine and drink coolers, portable laundry and narrow ranges. They are priced at the budget end and are common in dorms, studios, offices and home bars. We test from the outside before opening a cramped cabinet, so we know whether the fault is a thermostat, relay, fan or switch that can actually be replaced. Because these units cost little new, we confirm the part can be had and compare the repair with a replacement before quoting.

Appliances for Small and Odd Spaces
Avanti's lineup is all about scale: cube fridges, apartment-size models, small chest and upright freezers, wine and beverage coolers, portable washers, compact dryers and narrow ranges. They are light and affordable, and usually drop in without remodeling.
In Tampa they turn up in student rentals near USF, downtown studios, in-law suites, office kitchens and home bars. Many owners inherited the unit with the property and mainly want to know if fixing it is sensible, which is a fair place to start.
Simple Parts in a Tight Cabinet
Inside a typical Avanti mini fridge you find a dial thermostat, a small compressor with a relay pressed onto its terminals, and a condenser on the back or foamed into the side walls. Many skip automatic defrost. Wine coolers either use a solid-state thermoelectric module with fans or a compressor like a tiny refrigerator.
Fewer parts does not mean quicker work. Everything is packed tight, and reaching a relay can take panel removal that would be trivial on a full-size fridge. We test from outside first and open the cabinet only once we know the target.
Garages, Lanais and the Limits of Thermoelectric
A thermoelectric cooler can only hold the inside a fixed number of degrees under the surrounding air. In an air-conditioned room that works. On a Tampa lanai, or in a garage well past 100 degrees in July, it falls behind, and even a compressor mini fridge there may run constantly and still warm up.
Clearance counts too: built-in models need a clear front grille, freestanding ones need open space behind and beside them. After a storm outage, give a compact unit a few minutes before plugging it back in so the compressor is not fighting high pressure, and use a surge protector on electronic models.
What Usually Fails, Product by Product
A worn thermostat either stops asking for cold or never stops, freezing the contents. A bad start relay makes the compressor tick on and off without catching. Freezer sections that are never defrosted fill with ice, which is upkeep rather than a breakdown. Wine coolers lose fans and cooling modules.
Portable washers drip at the sink adapter or drain hose and wear out lid switches. Compact dryers are slow by nature and slower with lint packed in the airway. Small ranges burn out bake and surface elements, and gas versions lose igniter strength like any full-size oven.
Keeping the Repair in Proportion
Thermostats, relays, fans, gaskets, switches and elements are usually worth the money. A cube fridge with a dead compressor or lost charge almost never is. We price the part and labor against a replacement and tell you where we land before you approve anything.
Parts are hit or miss. Relays and thermostats are often stocked, while some controls and trim for older models are gone. We confirm the part exists first. A unit bought recently may still be covered by Avanti, so check with them before booking.
