Thor Kitchen is a Southern California company, founded in 2011, that sells pro-style ranges plus matching wall ovens, rangetops, hoods and refrigeration, all manufactured overseas to its designs. The draw is a heavy stainless, commercial-looking range priced much nearer to mainstream models. We test igniters, sensors, spark modules and boards first, because on Thor the steel and cast iron typically outlast the electronics. Thor's parts network is smaller than the major domestic brands' networks, so we verify the part number and expected delivery before you approve the work.

The Pro-Range Look at a Mainstream Price
Thor Kitchen launched in 2011 out of Southern California, designing appliances that are manufactured overseas. Gas and dual-fuel pro-style ranges came first. Refrigerators, wall ovens, rangetops, hoods, dishwashers, microwave drawers and wine coolers followed, and it is now common to see an entire kitchen outfitted in Thor.
In Tampa it turns up in remodels and new construction where a homeowner chose a big stainless range, anywhere from 30 to 48 inches wide, with continuous cast iron grates on a realistic budget. Those physical parts are substantial and rarely wear out. The ignition parts, temperature sensors and control boards are where the cost savings show, and they account for most service calls.
Ignition Comes First on Gas Ovens
A Thor gas oven that takes far too long to preheat, lights briefly and goes out, or never lights at all usually has an ignition problem. Depending on the model, that is a weakening hot-surface igniter or a spark ignition component, along with the oven safety valve it works with. Both are routine repairs once tested.
We check the igniter's current draw or spark, the valve and the wiring before looking at the thermostat or sensor. Guessing here is expensive, because an oven that is slow to light and an oven that misreads its own temperature can look similar to an owner.
When Bake Results Stop Matching the Dial
Temperature drift is the second common Thor complaint: cookies browning on one side, roasts running long, or a reading that disagrees with an oven thermometer. The cause may be the temperature sensor, a convection fan running slow or loud, or a door that no longer seals because the heavy door has settled on its hinges.
Each of these produces uneven heat in a different way, so we measure sensor resistance, check fan speed and inspect the door gasket and hinge alignment. Calibration offsets can mask a failing sensor for a while, but they do not fix it.
Boards, Spark Modules and Clicking Burners
Burners that click with every knob off usually mean a boil-over has soaked a burner switch, or the spark module has failed. Kill power at the breaker, give the cooktop a full day to dry out and reseat the burner caps. Clicking that comes back after power is restored means the switch or the module has to be tested.
Wall oven, dishwasher and refrigerator control boards are the other recurring electronic repair, and they tend to fail earlier than the hardware around them. Wet-season lightning in Tampa makes surge protection a reasonable precaution for these boards. Thor refrigerators also see ice makers that stop filling, often a water valve or a frozen fill tube.
Sourcing Thor Parts and Deciding to Repair
Thor's parts network is smaller than what the big domestic brands have. Igniters, electrodes, burner caps and bake elements generally arrive without much delay; boards and displays specific to one model can be slower. We note the model and serial, verify the part number, and give you a realistic wait time before you sign off.
Repair is usually the sensible choice for a Thor range, since a new one has to fit the same width, gas line and often the same hood. Board after board failing on an older unit, a rusted-through oven cavity or sealed-system work on a Thor refrigerator are the cases where we compare the cost honestly against replacement.
