About Samsung Stove Repair
Because so many Tampa Bay homes are all-electric, a Samsung stove here is very often a glass top over radiant elements, sometimes with a bridge or dual-ring zone. Gas versions, where natural gas or propane is available, carry four or five sealed burners with spark ignition, usually including a large rapid-boil burner and a small simmer burner. The top takes the daily abuse, so that is where most of our visits start.
On a glass top, a single element that stays cold usually means the element has opened or its infinite switch has failed. A zone that will only run full blast is the reverse: a switch or relay whose contacts have welded shut. Samsung has also recalled certain electric ranges whose front controls could be turned by an accidental brush, so check your model against the recall list before anything else.
Gas stoves fail differently. A burner that clicks without lighting has grease or boil-over in its ports or at the electrode gap. A burner that lights only around half of its ring has a cap sitting crooked or a row of clogged ports. Clicking that continues after the flame is on comes from a spark switch shorted by moisture, and a cracked ceramic electrode can throw its spark to the wrong spot.
With everything off and cool, remove the grates and caps, clean the burner base and igniter tip, poke out blocked holes with a straight pin, and set each cap back so it lies centered. On electric models, confirm the breaker is fully on and try the dead zone at another setting. Do not cook on cracked glass. At any smell of gas, get everyone outside and phone the gas company.
Our technician measures spark output and tests each switch, gas flow and burner fit, and on electric models checks element resistance and the infinite switch or relay. Burners, igniters, switches and elements cost little next to a new range, so those fixes nearly always make sense. A replacement glass top is pricier, yet still sensible on a newer Samsung.
Where Samsung Stoves Tend to Fail
- Radiant element or infinite switch failed, glass-top zone stays cold
- Switch or relay welded closed, element stuck on high
- Gas burner sparking without lighting, ports or electrode fouled
- Spark switch shorted by moisture, igniters clicking after shutoff
