About Miele Stove Repair
Most people calling about a Miele stove mean a pro-style freestanding range, 30, 36 or 48 inches wide. Miele builds them all-gas or dual-fuel. Both have dual-stacked burners that reach from a whisper of a simmer to high heat. Dual-fuel models pair them with an electric convection oven, often run by M Touch controls, while all-gas models bake with a gas burner under the cavity.
Ignition is where most Miele stove trouble shows up. A burner that clicks but will not light, one that keeps relighting, or an igniter cracked by a heavy pot set down too hard are all common. If the spark module fails, every burner goes silent at the same time. On all-gas stoves, a weak oven igniter delays or prevents baking, since it has to draw enough current to open the oven valve.
With the burners off and the top cool, lift off the grates and caps, wipe the igniters and burner heads dry, and set the caps back flat. A dual-fuel model with a confused control can sometimes be reset by switching off its breaker for a few minutes. Afternoon storms and outages can scramble electronic displays, so note any message before you reset. If you smell gas, leave the house and call from outside.
In the oven, the faults we see are temperature drift from an aging sensor, a convection fan that stops or grinds, and a door lock that stays engaged after self-cleaning. We test the spark module, valves and re-ignition sensing on the cooktop, then the oven sensor, elements or gas igniter and the convection motor, and we track cavity temperature against the setpoint through a full heat-up rather than one reading.
These stoves are major purchases, and their burner and oven parts are made to be serviced. Igniters, spark modules, sensors and fans are almost always worth replacing. A control board or display module is a larger expense that we explain plainly before ordering, along with any lead time. If the stove is new enough to still be covered by Miele, we will point you there first.
Where Miele Stoves Tend to Fail
- Igniters cracking or clicking after spills on dual-stacked burners
- Spark module failure leaving every burner unable to light
- Oven sensor drift on M Touch dual-fuel models
- Convection fan grinding or stopping during a bake
