About Miele Microwave Repair
A Miele microwave is almost always built in, set into a column of matching ovens. Some are dedicated microwaves with a glass tray or flat floor and sensor cooking programs. Others are speed ovens that combine microwave energy with convection, and sometimes a grill element, in one cavity. Many run on M Touch controls. Because trim and cutout match the oven wall, a swap is rarely simple.
The classic complaint is a microwave that runs, lights up and turns the tray but does not heat. That means the high-voltage side: the magnetron, the inverter or transformer depending on the model, or a door interlock switch. A door that has dropped out of alignment can keep the interlocks from engaging, and the unit will not start at all. A failed magnetron is a real repair on a built-in, not a reason to replace it.
Speed ovens add their own faults. The convection element or fan can fail, so the unit microwaves but cannot bake, and the grill element is another circuit to check. Displays and controls can fail after surges. Interior lights burn out, cooling fans get noisy, and sensor cooking can misjudge food if the humidity sensor is coated with grease, so a clean cavity matters.
Owner checks stop at the outside. Confirm the breaker is on, heat a cup of water on high to test heating, and look at whether the door closes squarely with undamaged latches. Wipe out food splatter, which can arc. Do not open the cabinet: the high-voltage parts can store a dangerous charge. We discharge them safely, test the magnetron and its supply, the interlocks, the board and the speed oven parts.
Before ordering parts, we confirm the exact model and any matching trim so the repaired unit still fits its wall. Most repairs on built-in Miele microwaves and speed ovens are worth doing, since they are costly and tied to the design of the kitchen. If a part has a long lead time, we tell you up front so you can plan around a few weeks without it.
Where Miele Microwaves Tend to Fail
- Magnetron or inverter failure so the unit runs but won't heat
- Misaligned door keeping interlock switches from engaging
- Speed oven convection element or fan no longer baking
- Display or control board faults following power surges
