About LG Oven Repair
ProBake Convection is the reason many people choose an LG oven, and it is also where a lot of service calls start. LG wraps a heating element around the rear convection fan so heated air comes from the back wall rather than only the floor. You will find it in LG freestanding and slide-in ranges as well as wall ovens, alongside air fry modes, InstaView doors and two styles of cleaning.
Those cleaning options cause confusion. EasyClean is a short, low-temperature cycle that uses a little water on the oven floor to loosen light soil. It was never meant to strip baked-on grease, so residue afterward is normal. Full self-clean, offered on many models, runs far hotter, and that heat is hard on wiring and relays; some ovens lock up or lose controls after a self-clean or an outage.
Slow preheat is the most frequent LG oven complaint. On electric models a burned bake element or a failed convection element is the usual cause, and a convection fan that quits leaves ProBake results uneven. Gas ovens fail differently: a hot-surface igniter can weaken until it glows without pulling enough current to open the valve, so the oven lights late or not at all.
We measure bake, broil and convection element resistance, run the fan motor, check the temperature sensor against its chart, and read igniter current on gas units. When the controls misbehave we test the relays on the main board and the touch panel, and we look behind the oven for scorched wiring, which shows up most often on ovens that self-clean frequently.
Before booking, confirm the breaker is fully on, check that a gas range's burners light, and make sure Sabbath mode or a delayed start is not set. If the door stays locked after a cleaning cycle, let it cool and cut the breaker briefly. Elements, igniters, fans and sensors are worthwhile repairs, and a board is usually reasonable on a wall oven or slide-in that would be costly to refit.
Where LG Ovens Tend to Fail
- ProBake convection element or fan failed, baking turns uneven
- Gas igniter glowing but too weak to open the oven valve
- Temperature sensor drifting, bake times no longer predictable
- Relay or control lockup after a high-heat self-clean cycle
