Built-in cooktop repair in Trinity and the west Pasco coast

A cooktop is a cooking surface built into a counter or island, separate from any oven. Trinity's newer kitchens and remodeled homes along the coast use them more than older houses do. We cover 7 ZIP codes in New Port Richey, Port Richey & Hudson.

Glass, gas and induction

On a radiant glass cooktop, an element that will not heat or will not shut off usually traces to the element, its limiter or the infinite switch. Hot-surface lights stay on when a board relay sticks. Gas cooktops click constantly when a spark switch is wet or shorted, and burners fail to light when an electrode is cracked or a cap sits out of place. Induction cooktops stop with error codes when the cooling fan under the glass clogs or the power module fails. Humid coastal air also lets moisture creep behind the knobs on gas models, a common cause of nonstop clicking.

Safe check: on gas, remove the caps and heads, dry everything and seat the caps flat. On glass or induction, switch the breaker off for a minute to reset the controls. If the glass is cracked, stop using it and leave the breaker off.

Visit details

The technician lifts the cooktop from the counter only as far as needed, protects the counter edge, and tests elements, switches and boards. You get the diagnosis and price before any repair, and you will know if a part has to be ordered for a second visit.

Before You Book: Cooktop Checks

Safe first steps for the most urgent cooktop problems, and when to leave it to a technician.

Gas SmellSafety
Do not look for the source. Get out of the house without operating any switch or appliance, and phone the gas utility or 911 after you are outside.
Gas Valve FailureSafety
Never open up or oil a gas valve yourself. If the cooktop's shutoff valve is safe to get to, close it, then call us.
Burner Won't Turn OffSafety
Cut power at the breaker on an electric cooktop, or close the gas shutoff valve on a gas model if it is safe to get to; keep the cooktop out of use until it is repaired.
Gas Smell Without FlameSafety
Turn the knob off only if it is within easy reach, and do not relight anything or operate switches. A strong or persistent odor means getting out of the house and phoning the gas utility or 911 once you are outside.
