About Wolf Cooktop Repair
Wolf's cooktop family spans gas rangetops, which drop into the counter with knobs on the front edge, gas cooktops, and induction and electric radiant cooktops. A rangetop may carry a griddle, charbroiler or French top. The gas burners are dual-stacked: an upper tier for high heat and a lower tier that holds a very gentle simmer. One spark module usually fires every igniter whenever any knob turns.
Wolf gas models also re-ignite automatically. If a burner's flame goes out, the system senses it and clicks until it relights. That is a real safety feature, but it means a wet igniter, a crumb on the burner head or a cap sitting slightly crooked can keep a lit burner clicking, because the system cannot confirm the flame. Most clicking complaints on these cooktops start right there.
Igniters also crack when a heavy pot lands on them, or simply wear out. If the spark module fails, every burner goes silent at once. A griddle or charbroiler runs on its own burner, igniter and thermostat. On island rangetops, crumbs and spills work under the knobs toward the ignition switches. On induction models, a failed coil, power board or cooling fan may disable a zone.
With all knobs off and everything cool, lift the grates and caps, dry off each igniter and burner head, and set the caps back squarely. Give the parts plenty of time to dry after cleaning, since humid summer air slows that down. For induction, reset the breaker and confirm a magnet sticks to the pan. Any smell of gas means leaving the home before phoning the utility.
We test the igniters and switches, the valves and the spark module, check ports for blockage, and inspect cap and burner seating. Griddles and charbroilers get their own component tests, and induction units get power board, coil and fan testing. A Wolf cooktop is expensive and fitted to its countertop, so fixing the ignition, a burner or an induction board nearly always beats replacing it.
Where Wolf Cooktops Tend to Fail
- Re-ignition clicking from wet igniters or misaligned caps
- Igniter cracked by a dropped pot on dual-stacked burners
- Spark module failure silencing every burner at once
- Griddle or charbroiler thermostat or igniter fault
