About JennAir Range Repair
JennAir's ranges cover a lot of ground: pro-style gas and dual-fuel models in the RISE and NOIR design lines, slide-in electric and induction ranges, and older ranges with built-in downdraft vents. A dual-fuel model pairs gas burners with an electric oven, so one appliance carries spark ignition, gas valves, heating elements, convection fans and electronic controls that all depend on each other.
On all-gas JennAir ranges, the oven fault we expect first is a weak hot-surface igniter. It still glows but no longer draws enough current to open the gas safety valve, so the oven takes ages to light or never does. We measure its current draw rather than guessing. Dual-fuel ovens fail differently: a bake element that opens, a sensor that misreads, or a convection fan that stops.
Because the cooktop and oven often share one control system, a fault in one area can show up in the other. Oven complaints include slow preheat, uneven baking and a door lock that sticks after self-clean. Cooktop issues match JennAir stoves: clicking burners, uneven flames and electric zones that stay cold. Even a gas range needs electricity for ignition and controls, so check the breaker first.
We test the oven igniter or elements, temperature sensor, gas safety valve, convection fan and control board, then the cooktop spark module and switches. If the downdraft on an older range is weak, we check its blower, filter and duct. Pro-style ranges are heavy, so we protect the floor when moving one. Please do not pull a gas range out yourself to look at its connections.
Repairing a JennAir range nearly always beats replacing it, particularly on pro-style models. The exceptions are older ranges needing a discontinued control or extensive gas work. If a range sat in floodwater during a storm, do not switch it on: water-damaged gas valves and controls are a safety issue and usually need replacing rather than drying out.
Where JennAir Ranges Tend to Fail
- Weak hot-surface igniter, gas oven slow or failing to light
- Dual-fuel bake element open, electric oven without heat
- Sensor or control fault causing uneven baking
- Cooktop spark module failing across several burners
