About Dacor Range Repair
Most Dacor ranges in service are dual-fuel, combining a gas cooktop with an electric convection oven, and each half has separate power and controls. That means the range depends on both a gas supply and a dedicated 240-volt line, and either can cause trouble. The wider pro-style models sometimes include a griddle or two ovens, and all-gas versions exist too, so diagnosis starts with the configuration.
A common call goes like this: the burners light, the clock is on, and the oven stays cold. Before anything else, check the range's double breaker. A half-tripped 240-volt breaker can keep the low-voltage parts running while the elements get nothing, so flip it all the way off, then on again. If the oven is still dead, the bake element, the sensor or a board relay comes next.
Beyond power, the oven half behaves much like a Dacor wall oven. Bake and convection elements open, convection fans grind, sensors drift so recipes stop turning out right, and the weighty door gradually droops. A fan behind the control panel keeps the electronics cool, and when that fan stops, the board and switches cook. Melted wiring or an erratic display can follow.
The gas top has the familiar Dacor issues: burners that spark endlessly, burners that never catch, and soft yellow flames. Reseat the caps and give a wet top time to dry. With any gas smell, get out and phone 911 or the utility instead of searching for a leak. Lightning season makes surge protection worth considering for a range this full of electronics, though no device stops every surge.
Both halves get tested on the same visit, ignition parts and valves up top, then elements, sensor, fans and board in the oven, so an oven symptom is never mistaken for a burner fault or the reverse. Dacor ranges are heavy and costly to replace, which makes most repairs worth doing. The exception is a board that is no longer made for an older range, which we check before quoting.
Where Dacor Ranges Tend to Fail
- Partly tripped 240-volt breaker so the oven gets no power
- Convection oven sensor drifting and throwing off bakes
- Control panel cooling fan failure overheating the board
- Gas burners clicking constantly or failing to light
