About Frigidaire Dishwasher Repair
Many current Frigidaire dishwashers have no hard-food chopper. Food particles are caught by a removable filter at the base of the tub instead, which makes the machine quieter but hands the owner a job that older dishwashers did on their own. When that filter goes uncleaned, wash water carries grit back onto the dishes, glasses come out filmy, and the drain pump works against a partial blockage.
The lineup runs from basic plastic-tub models with push buttons to Gallery and Professional units with stainless tubs, extra spray zones, heavier insulation and electronic touch controls. Underneath, they share the same core: a wash motor and pump, a drain pump, an inlet valve, a heater, and a door switch that has to confirm the door is latched before anything runs.
Leaks are a frequent call, and on plastic-tub models the door gasket is the usual source. A split spray arm or a tired pump seal can also put water on the floor. Drain pumps clog or burn out and leave standing water, wash motors wear and start to hum, and inlet valves fail or restrict. Around Tampa, mineral scale on inlet screens and spray arm holes often contributes to weak washing.
We trace a leak to its real source before replacing anything, since a door drip and a sump seal leak look alike on the floor. Then the wash motor, drain pump, door switch, inlet valve and control each get tested. On Gallery and Professional units with electronic panels, stored fault information often narrows the search. Homes on private wells get a look at the inlet screen for sediment.
Pumps, valves and gaskets are worthwhile repairs on almost any Frigidaire dishwasher. A control or wash motor failure on a basic plastic-tub model is different, because the repair can approach the cost of a new machine, and we will say so. Monthly filter cleaning, clear spray arm holes and a drain hose without kinks prevent many of the problems described here.
Where Frigidaire Dishwashers Tend to Fail
- Plastic-tub models leaking at a worn door gasket
- Uncleaned tub filter leaving film on dishes and straining the drain pump
- Inlet valve or screen restricted by mineral scale or well-water sediment
- Wash motor humming and losing spray pressure with age
