About Bosch Dishwasher Repair
E15 on a Bosch display is one of the most searched dishwasher codes, and it means water has reached the base pan under the tub and lifted a float switch. The machine shuts down to protect the floor. The water usually comes from a sump gasket that has worked loose, a door seal that got folded while loading, or a cloud of suds from the wrong detergent, rather than from a failed part.
That base pan is one piece of a layout built for quiet running. Bosch pairs a sealed stainless tub with a circulation pump whose housing contains the water heater, and a separate small drain pump with a check valve. Drying relies mostly on condensation against the cool tub walls, aided by zeolite on some models, so plastics often come out damp on a machine that is working exactly as designed.
E24 and E25 belong to the drain side. Glass shards, fruit pits, jar labels and grit slip past the filter, then lock up the drain pump impeller or keep the check valve from seating, and the tub is left with standing water or the pump hums without moving any. A kinked hose under the sink, or a new disposal whose knockout plug was never punched out, produces the same code with nothing wrong inside the machine.
We read the fault history, then drive each component by hand: drain pump, inlet valve, and the heating circuit built into the circulation pump housing, which is the part behind lukewarm washes. Water in the base pan gets traced to its source before anything is replaced. Mineral scale from hard water can narrow the inlet screen and crust the spray arms, and private wells add sediment, so we check the fill as well.
Before you book, cut power and twist out the filter assembly, rinse both screens and look in the sump. On a Bosch with a sound tub, a drain pump, valve or seal is a moderate repair. The heater lives inside the circulation pump, so that fix means a full pump assembly, and a dead control module on an older unit is a closer call that we price out before ordering anything.
Where Bosch Dishwashers Tend to Fail
- E24 or E25 from glass or fruit pits jamming the drain pump
- E15 base-pan float tripped by a sump or door-seal leak
- Pump-housing heater failing, so washes run lukewarm
- Scaled or sediment-clogged inlet screen causing slow fills
